Description

It's done! I could cry I'm so happy and incredibly proud of how this turned out! And it will be colored in the future! :D (edit: I can't promise that this will be colored anymore since I love how it looks in black and white haha)

This started out as me wanting to draw Poland's pony in some sort or another, but I wanted Feliks in the picture as well, so while I was searching reference pictures of Feliks, I kept coming across him portrayed as incredibly girly, which I know that that is his character but it irked me, so I decided I wanted to draw him historically in some way that was not girly what so ever. At first I tried to find reference pictures from the Polish-Swedish wars that was part of the web-comic, but in doing so I kept coming across info on the Polish Winged Hussars, became fastinated by them, and well, this is what became of it. (Even though I know this idea has been done many times before. So to the people who have drawn Feliks as a winged Hussar before I did, I did not intentionally steal your idea, and am sorry if it may seem that way.)

As an added note Feliks was ridiculoulsy hard for me to draw. His hair style, his eyes and what he is wearing all took tons of effort to get right (and some of it still bothers me...the angles mostly...F***ing angles!! *rage*) The pony was easier since I know how to draw horses better than people, and I became obsessive about the shading. I borrowed the pose of the pony (thanks Bob Langrish!)

So for those out there that don't know who the Winged Hussars, or Hussaria here is a semi-brief summary

:iconyaypolandplz: :iconsaysplz:[HISTORY LESSON HERE]
The Hussars were truly the bad asses of their time throughout the 16th-18th centuries. Intimidation was their main weapon and it worked incredibly well. In a time when an attack called the caracolle was the norm(basically it consisted of "riding up to the enemy, discharging pistols, and wheeling away to reload"), the Poles had the inovative idea to ride straight through the firing and directly up the opposing enemy before they had time to reload (this was used by Russian field marshal Aleksandr V. Suvorov in the 18th century two centuries after the Poles were using it). They began using a long lance as their main weapon which would kill the pikeman and chaos would erupt in the opposing army's ranks since not many ranks were trained to deal with suck an attack. Swedish ranks were simply demolished.

They wore heavier armor than their opposers, their horses tack was vibrant and incredibly decorative, often using Persian rugs as saddle pads, they also wore leopard skins across their armor also to scare their enemies horses who were naturally afraid of leopards and a bunch of noise charging at them, and wore wings which when riding at high speeds emitted a whistling noise which along with the skins and complicated tack, sent the horses of the enemy into a frenzy. The wings also served as a means of protection, keeping the "lariat-armed Tartars from lassoing them." Along with their lances the Hussars also carried 2-3 swords, a knife, and whatever other weapons they could get their hands on. Since it was up to the soilder to provide their own weapons (aside from the lance that was provided by the king) weapons also included everything from battle axes to a number of pistols carried in saddle bags.

Lithuania can also be included into this, since the Polish-Lithuanian commonwealth was a main part of the Husaria force in the 16th century until Russia split the two and Poland was annexed. I'm just gonna stop there for now, but if you want to learn more about the Hussars (there is ALOT more of info that could have but didn't include in this) Google it.

Wow if you read all of that, you get a cookie. ^^ *claps*
Oh and I'm willing to take critiques on this. If you see something that could be made better, tell me :)

Alright now for legal nonsense:
